Plant and tree experts are available to answer your questionsTo protect our island environment, a variety of organizations across the state routinely organize educational events where trees and shrubs are given away. To celebrate Arbor Day in November 2011, a total of over 7,000 plants were given away.

When plans are finalized we will post descriptions of the Arbor Day tree giveaways taking place in November, 2012.

Special recipes using local fruit

Because fruit trees are given away, we have posted a few recipes that use locally grown fruits and nuts.

Arbor Day National Poster Contest

Under the direction of the Arbor Day Foundation, fifth grade students and teachers across the nation learned about trees and environmental stewardship by participating in the Arbor Day National Poster Contest.

The 2010 theme, “Trees are Terrific… and Energy Wise!” was designed to increase students’ understanding of the role trees play in conserving energy in a community.

We are pleased to present the winning poster from Hawaii, by Nahakuelua Kekauoha , a student at Mililani Mauka Elementary School.
