The Arbor Day Hawaii tree give-away and this website are sponsored by Friends of Hawaii’s Urban Forest, a nonprofit corporation organized under Chapter 415B of the Hawaii Revised Statutes. It was created by:

• Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc.
• Kaulunani Urban Forestry Program of the State of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural resources and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service
• Pearl City Urban Garden Center of the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources

The corporation is organized exclusively to assist Hawaii government agencies and community groups in urban and community forestry efforts, thereby lessening the burden of government, and to promote community well being by educational and support activities involving urban and community forestry.

Additionally, the corporation is organized to operate exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary, religious, or educational purposes, within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
